I wrote poems on cheese and dying fires

In the past, I've posted my poems on my blog "Daybreak and the Universe". It was more for myself than anyone, but after a while, I began to wonder if I should showcase more of my works (as nerve-racking as it is!). The truth is, I dabble in many art forms (like poetry, design, and drawing) so I felt like my text-heavy wordpress blog wasn't the best to display all my pictures at one go. I thus decided to start a wixsite which is more centered around the visuals I did (like a digital portfolio)!

Anyway, this post shows a snippet of some poems I've put on my blog previously. Happy reading!

I wrote this around July:

The Cheese of Time

Some truths stretch

like melted-soft mozzarella

like you and me

like pushing and pulling

rewi-i-inded. We were in love

and not in love.

Twelve years after us,

your cream cheese bagel glows brightly

in your downtown café and bakery

bright and unfamiliar. You are happily married

and I am now thirty.

Nothing settles quite right on my tongue,

you looking as I lick cheese

me looking into your eyes

us looking at our diverged paths.

Long after I try

your perfect blue cheese pastry,

the old acquired taste tingles on my lips

I remember now —

young love was brie-sweet.

This is one poem I revised last year:

(Sacrilege!)

Insidious promises?

cravings: caved in.

I inch

closer to the inferno

shoeless, sockless, defenceless,

curious

desire: deliri—

I want

wantwantwant

to

hold the colour of fire,

freeze

the furiousferventincessant

-ly fading fumes.

If you liked those poems, I post more of them on my poetry blog. Tell me what you think of them! :D
